TRAUMA-INFORMED
Trauma-informed counseling recognizes that our symptoms and responses are often rooted in how we’ve learned to cope with overwhelming, adverse, or neglectful experiences. Rather than viewing behaviors as signs that something is "wrong," a trauma-informed counselor understands them as adaptive survival strategies.
With a focus on safety, empowerment, and healing, trauma-informed counseling creates a supportive environment where you can explore these responses, build self-understanding, and work toward lasting well-being
CLIENT-CENTRED
Client-centered therapy is a collaborative approach that views you as the expert of your own life. This therapy emphasizes your unique experiences, strengths, and innate ability to make meaningful decisions.
A client-centered therapist provides a supportive, non-judgmental environment to foster self-discovery, self-acceptance, and personal growth, empowering you to navigate your path toward well-being and fulfillment.
SYSTEMS APPROACH
A therapist using a systems approach recognizes that while we develop individual identities, we are also deeply connected to larger groups such as our families, communities, and society. Balancing personal needs with those of the group, and adapting to changes within these systems, can be challenging.
This approach considers the broader context of your life, addressing external factors that may contribute to distressing behaviors, emotions, or responses. When working with youth and families, the therapist focuses on family dynamics, aiming to reduce symptoms and enhance family harmony by fostering healthier interactions and communication patterns.
