Frequently Asked Questions
How Does Online Therapy Work?
You can book online therapy just as you would for an in-person session. Select the "Video Session" option during booking. Up to 30 minutes before your session, log into your portal, find your appointment, and click “Join Video Call”. You'll enter a virtual waiting room until your session starts—no downloads required. If you're not using the portal, you'll receive a direct link to join.
Tips to Prepare for Your Online Session:
Find a quiet, private space.
Ensure your microphone and sound are on.
Consider using headphones for clarity.
Keep comforting items nearby (e.g., tissues, blanket, tea).
Is the Online Platform Secure?
Yes, our platform meets strict PIPA/PIPEDA privacy standards and uses Canadian-based servers with end-to-end encryption. We use Owl Management for bookings and video calls, and Doxy as a backup. Your privacy and security are always our top priority.
What Covid Safety Precautions Are Taken In-Office?
We’ve implemented measures to enhance safety, including:
Hand sanitizers available.
Limited waiting room capacity (one person or family at a time).
Mask availability based on client preferences.
If you're feeling unwell, have traveled recently, or may have been exposed to COVID-19, we ask that you reschedule or switch to a virtual session.
Has the Cancellation Policy Changed?
Our 24-hour cancellation policy remains in effect to ensure availability for other clients. If you:
Experience symptoms like fever, chills, cough, sore throat, muscle aches or headache,
Have traveled outside Canada in the past 14 days,
Have been in close contact with someone exposed to COVID-19,
Please reschedule or switch to a video session.
How Can EMDR Be Done Online?
EMDR relies on bilateral stimulation (BLS), which can be adapted for online therapy through:
Visual BLS: Follow hand movements on-screen or a moving dot via an app.
Tactile BLS: Tap on your knees or use the butterfly hug technique.
Auditory BLS: With headphones, sounds alternate between ears using our BLS application.
Your therapist will guide you through the best method for your needs.
A Note About Online Reviews
I’m grateful for those who wish to share kind words or other feedback about their experience. However, as a Registered Clinical Counsellor, I am committed to protecting your privacy and upholding strong professional boundaries.
For this reason, I do not solicit or respond to online reviews. If you have feedback you'd like to share, I welcome direct communication. Your voice matters, and I’m always open to hearing how our work together can support your growth and well-being.
